Motown: The Musical at Bristol HippodromePosted on: 13 Mar 2018
Bristol is set to host hit West End musical 'Motown' from Thursday 10th January – Saturday 2nd February 2019.
For four weeks only, Bristol Hippodrome will transport you back to 1960s Detroit and provide a stunning display of dance, glitzy costume and glamour. Prepare to be delighted by fabulous choreography, a stunning cast, and enough classic melodies to have you dancing down the aisles.
The production tells the story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey to discovering some of the most famous and beloved music artists of all time, depicting the personal relationships and hurdles he faced along the way.
In 1983, Gordy reminisces on the 25 years of Motown that have passed since he borrowed $800 from his family and set out to break barriers to produce a sound like none other. His memory whisks us away and thus begins an extravaganza of over 50 hits from the likes of Diana Ross, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Lionel Richie, all set against the backdrop of a pivotal time in American history.
Tales of friendship, business and the rhythm and blues weave together the story of how this world-renowned music company came to be in a time of political unrest and a period of dramatic change for race relations in the United States.
Motown: The Musical premiered in 2013, is currently in its third running year in London and continues to be met with huge praise and applause. Having already attracted over 1 million fans, the show is touring throughout the UK and Ireland throughout 2018 and 2019.
We’ve heard it through the grapevine that this is a performance you won’t want to miss, so book tickets here for an experience that will have your feet tapping and your fingers clicking. This is a show sure to thrill and excite audiences of all ages, don't miss out!
