Full cast announced for Shrek the Musical at Bristol Hippodrome in August 2018
Posted on: 14 Dec 2017The full cast for Shrek: The Musical was announced today, with 2011 X Factor finalist and Celebrity Big Brother runner-up Amelia Lily on the bill as Fiona. The show comes to Bristol in August 2018, with 16 shows from Wednesday 8th to Sunday 19th.
Amelia Lily, whose voice shot her to stardom on the X Factor in 2011, joins a stellar cast that also sees Steffan Harri star as beloved swamp dweller Shrek, and Marcus Ayton as his wisecracking sidekick, Donkey. Lily will star as Princess Fiona, as the story follows Shrek and Donkey seeking to rescue the Princess from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon.
The show has been hugely successful since its debut in the US in 2008, and has since gone on to perform a stint on Broadway before coming over and making waves in the UK in the years since. Based on the original book by William Steig and the subsequent Dreamworks production in 2011, Shrek: The Musical has delighted audiences around the world.
Lily is no stranger to the stage herself, starring in American Idiot in 2015 - a stage production of some of Green Day's greatest hits. She performed numerous songs in the show, including two solo renditions. As well as that, she starred as the Narrator of a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in the same year.
The 2018 tour Shrek: The Musical sees the show performing at the Bristol Hippodrome from Wednesday 8th August to Sunday 19th. Tickets are on sale now, and can be bought here.
