A Morning at Kings and Queens Hair Salon Bristol

A Morning at Kings and Queens Hair Salon Bristol

Posted on: 31 Oct 2017

The Bristol hair salon Kings & Queens invited me for a morning of pampering. They are an independent salon established in 2016 created with a team of creative and talented stylists and are located on Bristol’s beautiful Harbourside, just by the ferry to the SS Great Britain.

Kings and Queens Hairdressers in Bristol

What better way to start a morning, than to spend a couple of hours at Kings & Queens having your hair styled. Upon entering I was greeted by the lovely Gina who took my coat and offered me a drink. Tea, coffee… prosecco, wine, beer?

Well, I’m not much used to being offered prosecco at the hairdressers - what a fabulous idea I thought. Deciding it was too early for a tipple, I chose a latte instead.

Music on in the background, I sat back as stylist Eileen washed my hair with the milk_shake products that they use there. The shampoo and conditioner she used smelled like, you guessed it, milkshakes. I love my hair to smell edible and I’m sure most will agree with me on this matter. Scents of peach and raspberry were filling my nostrils and I was given a super relaxing head massage as Eileen worked her magic, the water was nice and lukewarm which is just how I like it.

They stock a range of the milk_shake  products to buy, some of them include Whipped Cream, Incredible Milk and Glistening Spray. It is worth mentioning that they are all made using natural ingredients such as real milk, honey and shea butter, no wonder they leave your hair smelling so delicious and feeling incredibly soft.

Cut Blow Dry Style from Kings and Queens Bristol

I went in on the premise of a wash and a styled blow dry, but I ended up getting a cut as well. Often, I find that hairdressers can be pushy with cutting hair which always scares me a little as I feel that they will cut it how they think it should look, not how I want it to look. Eileen was nothing of the sort, she ensured me that I did not have to get a cut, although my hair could do with a tiny trim on the ends. Taking her expert advice, I agreed to half an inch off the length and my hair feels all the better for it.

My hair was blow dried and styled with more milk_shake product, leaving it soft, with shiny, silky curls and healthy-looking ends.

What was clear to see whilst I was there, is that they’re all about experience and will go the extra mile for customers to ensure that they are happy. The atmosphere inside is casual and cool, the interior decorated with contemporary light fixtures, stone walls and chesterfield sofas.

All of the stylists carry warm smiles and are chatty and friendly to talk to, Eileen also offered me some advice on how to treat my dry ends; turns out Argan oil is a must!

At Kings & Queens they really go all out to give you that special salon feeling, next time I visit I think I’ll go on a Friday evening as they are open later, which is the perfect excuse to relax and have my hair treated, with a glass of wine in hand to get into the weekend spirit.

Their opening times are: Tuesday- Wednesday 10am to 6pm. Thursday-Friday 10:30am to 8pm. Saturday 10am to 4pm. Walk ins are available all week.
