Bristol to host power ballads night tomorrow

Posted on: 10 Aug 2017

Ultimate Power, a club night dedicated solely to power ballads, will take over The Fleece in Bristol tomorrow night (11th August).

Whitney Houston

Be real now - is there a better type of song than a power ballad?

You know the ones: the numbers which build with a slow tempo to sublime rock choruses, with the help of wailing guitars, thundering drums and the occasional choir. They are the type of songs which bring lumps to the throat, tears to the eyes and engender out-of-tune, arm-around-yer-mates sing-alongs with every spinning.

There are many masters of the art, names which have come synonymous with the power ballad; names like Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, Bonnie Tyler, Phil Collins, Meat Loaf… The list goes on.

Ultimate Power

Expect to hear all these voices and more at The Fleece tomorrow, when Ultimate Power arrives. The club night is wholly committed to delivering nothing but power ballads from doors until lights, making for an evening like no other.

Ultimate Power has already been in rotation at venues throughout the UK for months, during which time it has gained notoriety and praise from all corners for its unabashed championing of the cheesy, and for its full-throttle commitment to balladry.

It will take over The Fleece tomorrow night for the first of three scheduled evenings – the others fall on the 8th September and 11th October. Doors open at 11pm and close at 3am.

Tickets are £4.65 (including booking fee) and are available here.
