Bristol Rovers announce fixtures for 2017/18 season

Posted on: 05 Jul 2017

The Gas will begin their second season in the Sky Bet League One in exactly one month, when they pay a visit to Charlton Athletic on the 5th August.

The escalatory form of Bristol Rovers in recent seasons has been pretty extraordinary. Between 2014-2016 the Pirates gained back-to-back promotions, sending them into League One for the first time last season – and though they were unable to make it a hat trick of consecutive advancements, a top half finish is not to be sniffed at.

Having had a taste of life in the third tier of English football, the coming season represents the perfect chance for Rovers to make a concerted bid to reach the Championship – and perhaps join arch rivals Bristol City.

This bid will begin in a month’s time, as the Pirates travel to The Valley to take on Charlton Athletic on the 5th August, and will close on the 5th May with a tricky trip to Southend United. These points bookend a gruelling league season of 46 matched, of which 23 will take place at the Memorial Stadium.
