One of the few positive aspects to be drawn from the latest American presidential election was the surge in popularity of US Senator Bernie Sanders, who drew more than 13 million votes for his democratic candidacy.

Despite ultimately losing out to Hilary Clinton, Sanders’ affable manner and passionate rhetoric brought the ideals he stands for into the political limelight, thus altering the American political discussion - all without an organisation or financial backing behind him.

In June, he is taking time out from his second term in the US Senate and the promotion of his New York Times best-selling book, Our Revolution, to give an address to Bristol at this year’s Festival of Ideas.

Bernie Sanders will speak at St George’s Bristol at 12pm on Saturday June 3rd. Tickets will be available online from www.stgeorgesbristol.co.uk, in person from the St George’s box office or by phone on 0845 4024 001. Booking opens at 10am today (April 20th).
