Singin’ In The Rain to be performed at the Bristol HippodromePosted on: 19 Apr 2017
The much-loved musical is to be put on at the theatre in central Bristol for one night only on the 23rd April by The Big Act, specialists in limited-preparation productions, following only 48 hours of rehearsal.
Drizzle is the precipitation most notably associated with Bristol, so, naturally, which musical is more suitable for performance in the city than Singin’ In The Rain?
The classic love story has been a firm favourite with audiences ever since Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds first brandished their umbrellas on the silver screen in 1952, with popularity for the stage version growing exponentially up to the present day.
Taking on production duties are The Big Act, the local drama school who specialise in in ultra-quick turnarounds, who will rehearse the play only 48 hours prior to performance. If previous productions We Will Rock You and Fame are anything to go by, their latest puddle-dunking adventure is set to cause a splash.
Tickets for Singin' In The Rain start at £19.40 and can be bought here.
An ardent Geordie minus the accent, Sam seemingly strove to get as far away from the Toon as possible, as soon as university beckoned. Three undergraduate years at UoB were more than ample time for Bristol (as it inevitably does) to get under his skin, and so here he remains: reporting, as Assistant Editor, on the cultural happenings which so infatuated him with the city.
