Moscow State Circus in Bristol - review

Our rating:

We had tightrope walkers, roller skaters and stunts galore. It's a great show and the real star was the compere of the evening who follows a genie roll, Vladimir Georgievskiy. I soon recognised him from last year's Britians got Talent.

Attention attention the Russians are in town.. However, do not panic it's not Putin or Drago from Rocky 4, it's actually a group of very talented performers.

On Friday night we were very lucky to have been given family tickets to see the Moscow State Circus on the Downs. I'm never sure about a circus, I always think about the film Dumbo when a circus is mentioned and that freaked me right out as a little person and most of our children have an irrational fear of clowns! All fears were soon forgotten.

Moscow State Circus in Bristol from 8-18 October 2015

We arrived to an amazing view - the large red and yellow tent is extremely impressive providing a nice back drop the usual downs vibe. When we arrived there was a buzz of excitement - many talking about how wonderful the show was on previous years.

I have a confession to make - I have a customer service gripe... If a member of staff is rude that's it, the experience is ruined. On the flip side if it's brilliant I instantly have a good feeling about the establishment. Went into an eaterie the other day and the service was so bad my amazing tasting pizza became rubbish because of Cruella de Vil's customer service. Anyway my point- the service at the Circus is brilliant; from the slush puppie lady to the box office the service was friendly, polite and they couldn't do enough. Great impression.

We sat down- the seats were good if not a little small. I'm pretty much a Shrek lookalike and struggled at times as the seats were small but it's more my mothers fault for creating this ogre. If the lady who was sat behind me is reading this... Sorry!!!!!!!!

The show began and was a mix of humour, amazing stunts and bright colours. We had tightrope walkers, roller skaters and stunts galore, the war office described it as a "visual feast". At one point the group of males were jumping on a seesaw which threw another man up who was on stilts who then did about 400 flips to land on his stilts... I tell you something - I cannot do that!! It was incredible, the kids were so in awe they were quiet for the whole show (bar the occasional buzz from the eldest's phone, new boyfriend and all..bless!).

It's a great show and the real star was the compere of the evening who follows a genie roll, Vladimir Georgievskiy. I soon recognised him from last year's Britain's Got Talent. He shone throughout the show with his wit, charm and modern clown skill. The set he did on BGT with the trampoline and the breaking ladder was brilliant, simply brilliant.

Please all do go to the Moscow State Circus it's a great evening out with the mini mes, it's breathtaking.
