War Horse in Bristol

Having been performed to more than 7 million people worldwide and in around 11 nations, the National Theatre’s hugely acclaimed War Horse is based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel. Set in the era of World War 1, the play involves young Albert’s beloved horse, Joey, which is sold to the Cavalry and then sent to France. The story shows him troubled in the enemy fire as destiny takes him on an incredible ride, serving on both sides before reaching no man’s land alone. On the other hand, Albert cannot forget Joey as the former is on his parents’ Devon farm. Albert is very young and still he sets out on a tough mission to find Joey.

War Horse is a touching and creative drama, full of inspiring music and tracks. The show has astounding life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, charging, galloping horses to spectacular life on stage. Get ready to experience the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France as War Horse takes you on an incredible journey with its theatricality, accuracy and reality.
