Matthew Bourne’s production of The Red Shoes at The Bristol Hippodrome

Spreading the love across Bristol, we bring to you The Red Shoes, an awesome fairytale as well as the winner of 2 Academy Awards, to be performed from 4 to 8 April, 2017 at Bristol Hippodrome.

Based on a girl’s dream to be the best dancer the world has ever seen, the inspiring story presents to you the obsession and possession as it promises to seduce the audiences. Although Victoria Page is determined to dance but her dream is converted to a battleground between the 2 men who inspire her passion.

A brilliant adaptation of the 1948 film (by legends Powell and Pressburger), this stupendous work produced by Matthew Bourne features a new score by Terry Davies and the music has been composed by the legendary Bernard Herrmann ( known for his works with Orson Welles, Martin Scorsese and Alfred Hitchcock). The Hollywood composer has the talent of versatility in his music and his creations include witty as well as romantic compositions.

With this much awaited show, we see the reuniting of the team who presented New Adventures’ world-wide hit, Sleeping Beauty as we have splendid designs by Lez Brotherston (set and costumes), extravagant lighting by Paule Constable and superb sound by Paul Groothuis.

Get ready to be a part of a wonderful evening where your heart will break with the intoxicating drama where life imitates art with crucial outcomes.

The Times describes it as 'Britain's most successful choreographer will blow your mind with his sheer imagination, wit and brio'

According to The New York Times, 'Bourne is a masterly storyteller'

‘The great showman of British dance with an instinctive understanding of what audiences want’, says Daily Telegraph.
