The Flaming Lips at The Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 13 August 2017

The Flaming Lips will perform at The Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 13 August 2017.

The Flaming Lips perform at the hall following the release of their new studio album — Oczy Mlody —on Warner Bros. Records. Produced by the band and their long-time producer Dave Fridmann, the highly anticipated album is the follow-up to The Lips’ previous full length release, 2013’s The Terror.

Three-time Grammy-Award winners, The Flaming Lips are one of the most enduring, influential, unpredictable, and globally respected bands of their generation. Led by Wayne Coyne, they have been cited as the ultimate live attraction and life-affirming festival band who continue to dazzle audiences with their over-the-top, maximalist, high-energy onslaught on the senses.

The Flaming Lips are an experimental rock band from Oklahoma City. Led by illustrious frontman Wayne Coyne, they are renowned for their multi-layered psychedelic sound, and fantastical and philosophical lyrical themes. They rose to mainstream prominence following hit albums ‘The Soft Bulletin’ (1999) and ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots’ (2002), and have enjoyed continued popular success since then.

Coyne’s fascination with science fiction and space opera, along with their stylistic association with 1960s and 1970s psychedelia, has earned them a reputation as a wildly individual band. They stage spectacular live shows, often drawing on the conceptual themes of their albums to augment their immersive theatrics. They have won three Grammy Awards, and, following a popular vote, their much-loved song ‘Do You Realize??’ was named the official rock song of Oklahoma in 2009.
