Laura Marling at Colston Hall in Bristol on 9 March 2017

Laura Marling will be at Colston Hall in Bristol on Thursday 9 March 2017

Delicate folk-pop songstress Laura Marling first came to widespread attention with her acclaimed 2008 debut album ‘Alas, I cannot Swim’, which went on to be nominated for the Mercury Music Prize that year. When her second and fourth recordings, ‘I Speak Because I Can’ and ‘Once I Was an Eagle’, received as much, if not more praise, including two more Mercury Prize nominations, Marling affirmed her status as a serious talent.

Marling’s fifth album, ‘Short Movie’, is the result of an extended period of stopping and thinking. “I realised that I hadn’t been in a place for longer than two or three weeks since I was 16,” she explains. “I thought ‘I wonder what will happen if I try and root myself somewhere?‘ Look back over the past eight years.”
