A selection of work spanning 25 years

Daphne Wright: Emotional Archaeology will run at the Arnolfini in Bristol from the 21st October 2016 to the 15th January 2017.

This exhibition presents a selection of work from the last 25 years by the Bristol-based artist Daphne Wright, who has developed a series of conceptual ideas and sculptural languages over this time, which have been quietly influential.

Wright’s work is the result of a relentless curiosity into the way in which a range of materials can create an involvement with often unspoken human preoccupations. Casting, sound recording, film making and drawing result in a series of works that explore issues such as parenting, ageing and animal rearing. The exhibition will include major projects by the artist including Where do Broken Hearts Go? (2000) and Kitchen Table (2014).
