Traditional Pub on Whiteladies Road in Bristol

The Black Boy Inn is a traditional pub on the famous White Ladies Road in the cosmopolitan Clifton area of Bristol. It is surrounded by beautiful Georgian era buildings, many of which maintain the original architectural features and that are now home to a wide variety of shops, galleries, delicatessens and boutiques.

 

The Black Boy Inn has a rustic look with armchair seating, farmhouse tables, a working fireplace and this creates an informal, relaxing atmosphere. The bar serves real ales, traditional ciders, continental lagers, spirits and soft drinks as well as wine list that caters for a wide range of palettes including blends that are described as aromatic, fruity, rich and smooth tastes.

 

Head Chef Samuel Sperring oversees and menu that places emphasis on a ‘Best of British’ theme with a particular focus on seasonal and local ingredients. The wide range of dishes served include classics British with a twist, fresh line-caught fish and seafood specials, grilled Cornish sardines, free range chicken Kiev which can be finished with rich chocolate bouchon dessert or other choice from the sweet range .

 

Nearby Blackboy Hill, which is the commonly used name for the upper part of White Ladies Road is named after this long established and venerable pub. Whiteladies  Road is also said to be named after another pub, known as the White Ladies Inn and now lost to the passing of time, which can be found on maps of Clifton dating back to 1746.

Monday to Thursday 12 noon until 2pm and 6pm to 9pm.

Friday and Saturday 12 noon until 2pm and 6pm to 9.30pm.

Sunday 12 noon until 3pm and 6pm to 9pm.
