Posted on: 09 Mar 2020

Don't miss uncompromising industrial metal, feel-good Motown and A Metal Tribute to The Bee Gees at one of Bristol's favourite live venues this week.

The Fleece is known for its varied live programming, but they've taken it up a notch this week. From power ballads to jazz-folk and metal to Motown, you're certain to find what you're looking for. Check out our quick rundown and get your tickets below.

System Degenerate | Monday 9 March

There's a night of no-nonsense local live music on the way at The Fleece tonight, with four bands from the South West locked in for a full night of dystopian industrial sound.

Expect an explosive live set from chaotic outfit System Degenerate, with support coming from Wreckage of Society, Alien Stash Tin and Gravity Wave Riders.

Ben Watt | Tuesday 10 March

Best known for his 17 years as songwriter, producer and performer with Everything But The Girl, Ben Watt has now turned his attention to his solo musical prowess.

Since returning to his jazz-folk roots in 2014, Watt has released two full-length albums, his debut Hendra and the 2016 follow-up Fever Dream, to widespread critical acclaim.

Kaluss | Wednesday 11 March

A second full night of local music in three days sees fast-rising UK rockers Kaluss headline another lineup of exciting emerging acts. Kaluss' contemporary grunge sound will be backed up on the night by support acts Lykos, Green Licence, Catalysts and Fawner.

Tragedy: An All-Metal Tribute to The Bee Gees | Friday 13 March

It's probably fitting that this one falls on Friday 13th. The Bee Gees, known for their infectious disco groovers and Barry Gibb's instantly-recognisable vocals, will be given an All-Metal makeover by tribute outfit Tragedy for a gig that's sure to linger long in the memories of those brave enough to check it out.

We genuinely have no idea what to expect.

Ultimate Power | Friday 13 March

Power ballad fans can get settled in from start to finish at The Fleece on Friday night, with the latest edition of Ultimate Power set to follow Tragedy's Bee Gees/Heavy Metal mashup.

Playing nothing but the biggest and best ballads ever written, from the likes of Queen, Meatloaf, Whitney Houston and more, it's no surprise that Ultimate Power is one of The Fleece's most popular club nights.

The Regz: Motown, Soul & Ska | Saturday 14 March

Established in 2004 as a one-off party act, The Regz have since developed into an ongoing and well-loved musical project. The lineup, despite going through changes in its 15-plus-year lifespan, consists of nine members and a brass section.

The band are proper entertainers, inspired by 60s and 70s soul, funk, pop, ska and more, taking crowds through everything from Aretha Franklin to Otis Redding and James Brown.

Propaganda: St Patrick's Day | Saturday 14 March

Bristol's favourite pop purveyors are back this weekend, and the booze is absolutely guaranteed to be flowing as they celebrate St Patrick's Day in style.

As well as their usual all-night mix of pop classics and cheesy bangers, Propaganda are offering up great deals on Guinness, Jameson's and any drinks they can put an Irish spin on, with special £4 entry on offer for students.

Delta Sleep | Sunday 15 March

Closing this week's proceedings at The Fleece will be prolific outfit Delta Sleep, arriving in Bristol for their biggest headline show in the city to date.

After their acclaimed 'Ghost City' in August 2018, the band have clocked tens of thousands of miles on the road bringing their sound to crowds around the world. They're currently part way through a victory lap around the UK, rightly receiving plaudits as one of the most hard-working independent touring bands in the business.
