Factory Studios are offering free rehearsal sessions for Bristol bands

The BS5 studio are offering free sessions to up-and-coming artists ahead of the UK's gradual reopening this summer.

The Factory Studios team have announced plans to offer free rehearsal sessions to Bristol-based bands and artists to help the local music scene get back on its feet following months of uncertainty amid the coronavirus pandemic.

From Monday 29 March, up-and-coming musicians unable to work from home can make use of the studio space and all the necessary equipment in four-hour bookable sessions.

Closed for much of the past year, the much-loved Barton Hill studio has recently been refurbished with new air exchange systems, screens and one-way systems as part of a COVID-safe policy designed to ensure the safety of artists and technical staff.

From Roni Size to Massive Attack, Eats Everything and, more recently, IDLES, Factory Studios has hosted some of Bristol's biggest and best musical acts since opening in 2007.

Proud champions of the city's music scene, Factory's ethos has always been to extend the same warm welcome to bands and musicians at every level, leading to countless collaborations across a wide range of genres over the years.

Now, in response to the massive impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the music industry, the studio are giving local acts the chance to practice together in a professional environment, free of charge, ahead of a potential return to the stage this summer.

Speaking on the free rehearsals scheme, Factory Co-Director, Sol Curry, said the grassroots music scene in Bristol had taken a "real battering" during the last year.

“We hope that by offering some free rehearsal time to local musicians we can give a well-deserved leg up to help people get playing again,” he added.

From Monday 29 March to Sunday 11 April, semi-professional bands and artists unable to work from home can get themselves booked in for a free four-hour session, all equipment included, by getting in touch with Factory Studios via email and mentioning their offer.

Spaces are limited, so those interested in making use of the free rehearsal time are encouraged to get in quick to avoid disappointment. To find out more, contact the studio on 0117 952 5655 or head to their website.
