Bristol Halloween Events 2022

Posted on: 06 Oct 2022

It’s the most wonderfrightful time of the year once again, as Halloween closes in fast. As the only major holiday where you celebrate the night, Halloween is the best holiday for celebrating the night OUT too.

This year, with Halloween landing at the end of the weekend, we’ve seen the whole Friday-Monday space overtaken with celebrations and parties like a zombie horde.

Like a zombie horde, the sheer numbers make it difficult to deal with – there are three nights of All Hallow’s Eve fun to choose from here, and a lot more than three options.

Luckily, we’re on hand to help pick out the shining stars (or should that be mist-shrouded moons?) of the Halloween weekend.

Friday 28th October

Halloween Hoedown – The Jam Jar

If you’re looking for a “good time knee slappin’ bluegrass ball” this spooky season, Jam Jar have got you covered. With alt-country string band Feral Mouth and Redfield kids Kai Carter’s Old Time trio providing the bluegrass bangers, this is sure to be a fun one.

Halloween demands costumes, of course – here the theme is “Horrifying Hillbillies and Frightful Farmers”.

Tickets are £9 on first release, so get yours quickly here.

The Dead Gorgeous Halloween Crypt Party – The Mount Without Crypt

Winning our award for “most appropriate locale”, the Dead Gorgeous Halloween Crypt Party takes place in St Michael’s Hill’s The Mount Without – specifically their simultaneously creepy and cosy crypt space.

This night promises music across house, breaks, funk, DNB and Swing n Bass with appearances from Mr Krafty Kuts, Mr Fitz and Jazz Mango – alongside live Halloween Acts from Rogue Circus, and Caribbean food from Wilf’s Caribbean Kitchen.

For this one, come dressed for the theme “Dead Glam” – and potentially win a prize for the most creative outfit!

Tickets here are £30, but include a free cocktail on the night.

Fun House of Horrors 2022 – Lakota

Lakota heralds the long-awaited return of Fun House for this special Halloween edition!

Choose between their Disco Dungeon, Drum & Basement, or The Mirage rooms (or flit between all three). Just make sure you’re in costume for this one – as Lakota put it “HALLOWEEN OUTFITS ARE COMPULSORY”.

Tickets are on their sixth release at time of writing, with a price tag of £18. Get yours before they get more expensive on Headfirst.

Punka Halloween Extravaganza – Lost Horizon

One for the Queer community this Halloween weekend, Lost Horizon are hosting the beloved Punka.

Promising a mindboggling array of acts, from Drag – including returning host Dis – to Burlesque and Cabaret. Complete with a live performance from “psycho surf-noir” band the Sinictones (joined by special guests Ophelia Wilde and Boo La Lune), the night finishes out with a late-night DJ set. An extravaganza indeed.

Tickets are £12 here.

Saturday 29th October

Black Wendy – Moor Beer Brewery

Moor are returning for their annual All Hallow’s Eve gig – this year featuring the “Alt Rock Punk, Break Neck Funk” of band Black Wendy.

For beer lovers, this is a great one – spooky vibes, a high energy headliner, and all the craft beer you can lay your hands on – closing out with a DJ.

Tickets are just £6, on Headfirst.

Slug-O-Ween – Cosies!

Slug Wife is a favourite Cosies night – a night of “UK's finest eclectic noisemakers and party maestros.” They’re well known for their Halloween specials, and Cosies are definitely rocking the most unique costume theme – describing the theme of their costume contest as simply “slug.”

For a classic Cosies night with a spooky theme, tickets are only £5. With limited capacity, get yours here to avoid disappointment.

Sunday 30th October

Slaughterhaus: Hellbent – Strange Brew

Bristol biggest drag family, Slaughterhaus, are coming together for one of Sunday’s biggest nights on offer.

Fresh-faced venue Strange Brew has only been running since 2020, but has already proved to be a real local favourite, offering up fresh and attention-grabbing nights and pushing a loveable DIY vibe – pairing them with all the Slaughterhaus sisters is a sure recipe for a successful brew.

Tickets are £12 advance, so make sure you get them ahead of time here.

Monday 31st October – Halloween!

Brooklyn Zoo Bristol: The Halloween Hiphop Rave - Motion

For Monday, your best bet is, of course, Motion. Motion are running events throughout the weekend, but they’ve got the Halloween edition of their absolutely colossal Hip-Hop rave, Brooklyn Zoo, this Halloween Monday.

Expect three entire warehouses of music, scare actors, a £250 prize for best outfits, and a special extended finish time of 5AM.

These tickets are selling lightning fast, with the current release at time of writing being £19.50. Get them from skiddle.
