August bank holiday highlights: six events happening in Bristol

Posted on: 13 Aug 2021

There are a host of great events happening across the city this coming August bank holiday weekend.

As summer draws to a close, why not enjoy one more blowout, whether it be a gig, club night, or live comedy, before the absurdly premature Christmas ads start and the climate shifts northwards.

Here are six bank holiday events we think will knock your socks off.

Breaking Bread closing weekender I The Downs I Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 August

Breaking Bread's pop-up environment at The Downs, hosting a number of the best independent food and drink producers in Bristol, is going out with a bang this bank holiday weekend.

The festival-style event features live music, DJs, comedy, kids entertainment, craft stalls, chef demos & workshops, producers market, talks & panel discussions, and perhaps most important of all, good food. For tickets, click here.

Boogielands bank holiday weekender I Old Crown Courts I Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 August

Old Crown Courts will host a two-day bank holiday knees up, bringing a series of successful open-air discos held this summer to a close. Dance the weekend away to a mix of disco, funk, and soul.

Tickets are expected to sell out in no time, so if this sounds up your street, don't hang around. Find tickets here.

Peeping Drexels I The Lanes I Sunday 29 August

Peeping Drexels have been relentlessly playing live since forming in South London in 2016. With titanic riffs filtered through noisy fuzz, the band have marked themselves out as one of the most visceral live acts in the capital.

Rooftop comedy I Mr Wolf's I Sunday 29 August

Atop Mr Wolf's on their intimate rooftop arena, a selection of Bristol's finest comics and some national headliners will perform a series of stand-up sets that will no doubt double up as an intense ab workout.
