After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021, concerns as to why it is not on in 2022
After two years away due to Covid, St Paul's Carnival should have returned to Bristol on 2 July 2022 but rumours are that it will not be happening in all of its usual glory this year. The reasoning for this we believe is lack of funding, we are scratching our heads as to what has happened to the 2020, 2021 and 2022 money! 2023 best have the biggest line up ever....
The annual African Caribbean Carnival - that began in 1968 - regularly attracts tens of thousands of people to the streets of St Paul's, all looking to celebrate African Caribbean cultural history in a community orientated space.
Undoubtedly the biggest and best-loved party in Bristol, St Pauls Carnival has been unable to go ahead at full capacity since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the absence of the regular Carnival programming, organisers have unveiled a two-week programme of live performances, club nights, workshops and more as part of a broad celebration of culture and diversity.
A full lineup of events is set to land in the coming weeks, while the Carnival team continue to work towards the return of the full event in 2023.
