Billy Ocean is finally here on Wednesday 26 April 2017 at Colston Hall in Bristol.
Born in Trinidad but brought up in London, Billy Ocean is has a collection of Gold and Platinum records all over the globe with No. 1 spots in Australia, USA, Germany, UK and Holland to name a few. He got his first launch when he made a deal with GTO records, then came the Motown-ish Love Really Hurts Without You, which became No. 2 in the UK charts and No. 12 in US.
Two singles which made it as top twenty singles were Love on Delivery and Stop Me, then came Red Light Spells Danger, a countrywide hit in US and UK. He moved to Jive records which gave him the remaining limelight and success, with millions of records selling, Billy won a Grammy in Best R&B Vocals for Caribbean Queen, followed by Loverboy and Suddenly, as they became the Billy’s killer songs.
The album from which these songs came have been in the US Charts for a year, selling double platinum (means triple in Canada) he also gave his performance in American Half of Live Aid, and made 1985 a remarkable year for his career. In 1986 he opened with When the Going gets Tough, this was the theme song of Jewel of the Nile starring Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner/Danny Devito. He then revealed Love Zone album, which directly got listed as No. 2 in UK Charts, and stayed in top 40 for 6 months. In US, There’ll be a Sad Songs was the No. 1 single. More hits came from Get Outta My Dreams; Get into My Car, which gave him another No. 1 hit in US.
