Experimental, soulful R&B
Milia Maya is a 21-year-old R&B/Soul artist based in Bristol with a culturally diverse heritage and deep-rooted musical upbringing. She discovered her passion for music at a young age, becoming a classically trained instrumentalist initially, she transitioned into singing and later realised a natural ability for songwriting. A love for Jazz and Soul, including pioneers: Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, has influenced Milia Maya's original music style, as well as R&B icons: Thuy, SZA and Tamia to name but a few. Milia‘s recognisable and unique sound is elevated through her use of romantic strings, interweaving harmonies and complex beats, glued together with heartfelt vocals and raw lyrics, touching on themes such as love and grief. Milia Maya’s music reveals her authentic self and aims to create a space for her listeners to feel understood and heard.
