Bristol's biggest and best climbing and social event!
On Saturday 26 November the 2016, The Bristol Open Bouldering Championships will be held at Bloc Climbing - the largest bouldering centre in the city - with £1,000 in cash prizes on offer and Smoke Catering as special guest caterers!
The event is open to climbers of all abilities and is a great social event. Entry to the competition is just £2 on top of your regular entrance fee to climb, so it's the perfect weekend activity whether you're a pro, part-timer or complete beginner. This will be a full day of entertainment with DJs, a bar...and, worth a trip just for this, the incredible Smoke Catering will be providing the food!
Smoke Catering is a family business set up and run by Claire and Robyn Dacey, Claire a Somerset girl and Rob an American, also brought up in Somerset. On the menu will be pulled pork, brisket & beef sausages together with a vegetarian option. Check out www.smokecatering.com for more info!
Here's what to expect from the day:
- It is a 1 day event
- It starts at 1pm.
- Finals begin at 7pm.
- £2 for a scorecard (if you are entering). Then your normal entry rate on top.
- Juniors scores will be categorised online after the event.Juniors are eligible to compete in the finals
- Vets (40+) will also be categorised in the scoring published after the event.
- Normal entry and no further costs if you just wish to climb on the day.
Bloc Climbing Centre in Bristol is the biggest bouldering centre in the City. The centre has over 1,200 square metres of indoor climbing available and there are up to 8 graded circuits meaning whatever your level, from complete amateur through to seasoned professional there are routes designed specifically to test you. There is also a dedicated 4.5 metre competition climbing wall as well as two large training areas including woody, system board, campus board and a range of fingerboards, plus pull up bars and stretching area.
