Three top acts announced as support for Self Esteem’s Bristol Sounds show

Posted on: 23 May 2023

With Bristol Sounds just a month away, organisers have announced three stellar artists opening for the eagerly anticipated final night performance from Self Esteem.

Self Esteem will close Bristol Sounds 2023 at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre on Sunday 25 June 2023.

Joining the electro indie-pop star on Bristol Harbourside next month will be powerful singer-songwriter Anna Calvi, Bristol’s very own mask wearing “drag monster” Lynks, and Nottingham natives and alt-country maestros, Divorce.

Spearheading this exciting roster of supports is haunting vocalist and guitarist Anna Calvi, who is sure to deliver a passionate, brooding performance. Best known for her single ‘Ain’t No Grave’, the singer-songwriter penned the soundtrack to the final series of Peaky Blinders and her dark and intense style has earned her three Mercury Prize nominations.

Next up is a name that will be very familiar to Bristol’s leftfield music community. Having cut their teeth in the city’s underground music venues, Lynks is now a rising star in London with raw, gritty, tongue in cheek bangers that capture the chaotic creativeness of the queer club scene – all from within the confines of their signature latex mask!

Divorce first burst onto the UK’s indie rock scene with their 2022 grungy single, ‘Services’. Since then, the Nottingham buzz band have gone from strength to strength with their debut EP, Get Mean, winning rave reviews thanks to its country-tinged brand of indie-rock.

With BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize nominations as well as appearances on massive shows such as Taskmaster and Gogglebox, Sunday headliner, Self Esteem, is fast becoming one of the most recognisable artists in indie.

Her most recent project, Prioritise Pleasure, in particular, has drawn widespread praise for its uplifting, experimental approach to pop. Self Esteem will be closing what looks to be a stellar lineup of acts at Bristol Sounds 2023 with Mika, Jacob Collier, James and Levellers announced as the other headliners.

Bristol Sounds 2023 runs at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre on Bristol Harbourside from Wednesday 21 June with Self Esteem closing the festival on Sunday 25 June. Tickets for this show can be found HERE.
