Tickets for a world-first immersive light journey coming to Bristol are on sale now

Prepare yourself for ‘Beyond Submergence’, an immersive light, space and sound journey through Bristol’s Propyard this summer.

 

Beyond Submergence will run at Propyard from Saturday 1 until Monday 31 July 2023.

Squidsoup’s Beyond Submergence exhibition is set to be the first of its kind thanks to their unique and long-established approach of site-specific art. Tailored to the Propyard’s specific layout and the space within, never again will visitors be able to experience a journey like this. 

 

Fresh from several sell-out audio-visual shows with FourTet at Ally Pally, pioneers of light and experts in their use of space, sound, scale, movement and technology, Squidsoup are known worldwide for creating immersive experiences that are guaranteed to evoke emotional responses.

 

With several travelling artworks as part of their coveted portfolio, a selection of the largest pieces are set to be brought together in Squidsoup’s debut exhibition. Speaking about ‘Beyond Submergence’, the collective have said:

 

“You are about to enter a different kind of space, an experience you may not be familiar with. Take the time - before you begin, to forget the outside world - to relax and open yourself to the unexpected. 

 

“Get accustomed to a slower pace, and prepare your eyes and ears, for these artworks are about light, sound, space... allow your mind to wander, to follow through with the associations that may come to it; explore them, enjoy the evocations, feelings and memories they bring.”

One of Squidsoup’s largest pieces, ‘Submergence’, is an immersive walkthrough experience using thousands of suspended lights to create feelings of presence and movement within a physical space, thus creating an abstract narrative, an increase in tension leading to a natural climax. 

 

‘Singularity’, another of Squidsoup’s spectacular installations, is a monolithic suspended sphere of abstract and dynamic light and movement. Unpredictable and transitional, ‘Beyond Submergence’ will see visitors step into a world of magic and the perfect day out for families and art fans all over Bristol.
