Hailing from Oldham, Greater Manchester, Brian Cox played in indie bands Dare and D:Ream before pursuing an academic career that eventually led to the now 55-year-old becoming a particle physicist at the University of Manchester.
However, he is best known for his work as a science presenter on various radio and television programmes including BBC Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage and BBC Two’s Wonders Of… series. Cox is seen by many as the natural successor to the BBC’s scientific programming, indeed, Sir David Attenborough himself said so much in 2013.
Cox’s new tour, Horizons, sees the Professor celebrate our civilisation, music, art, philosophy and science with an optimistic vision of our future and stresses the importance of continuing to explore nature with humility and to value ourselves and our fellow human beings.
In addition to Bristol, the final leg of Brian Cox’s ‘Horizons World Tour’ will call on venues Belfast, Torquay, Swansea, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Brighton, Hull, York, Blackburn, Bradford, Wimbledon, Stoke-On-Trent, Oxford, Liverpool, Coventry, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Bath, Truro, Leicester and many more.
