Coming to The Bristol Hippodrome next week, this brilliant celebration of the brother and sister duo’s renowned songbook is sure to get the audience off their seats.

 

The Carpenters Story will appear at The Bristol Hippodrome on Thursday 11 May 2023.

 

This highly acclaimed production has managed to captivate audiences up and down the country and, next Thursday, The Carpenters Story is returning to town for a breathtaking exploration of the songs that made the band popular music titans, selling well over 100 million albums and singles in the process.

The Carpenters (made up of Richard and Karen Carpenter) are known the world over for their delicate melodies and masterful arrangements. One of the most celebrated music outfits of the 70s, the duo provided a more classic alternative to the rock and roll exuberance of their rock counterparts.

 

One of the most decorated bands of the late 20th century, the two-piece won a remarkable four Grammys, gained twelve Top Ten hits and three Number One Singles including their classic single ‘(They Long To Be) Close To You)’. 

 

The beautiful combination of Karen’s vocals and Richard’s arrangements have ensured that the Californian duo’s impressive roster of songs endures to this day with a whole new generation of music fans falling in love with hit songs such as ‘Top of the World’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Rainy Days & Mondays’, ‘Goodbye to Love’ and more.

 

All of these songs will be featured in The Carpenters Story, a wonderful production that is brought to life by the outstanding vocal talents of Claire Furley as Karen Carpenter and Musical Director Phil Aldridge leading a full band in recreating Richard’s original orchestral arrangements.

 

In addition to next week’s Bristol show, The Carpenters Story will drop by venues in Folkestone, Shrewsbury, Kings Lynn, Manchester, Darlington, Whitley Bay, Bromley, Liverpool, Carlisle, Studley, High Wycombe, Guildford, Dartford, Basildon, Bournemouth and Port Talbot.
