Music lineup announced for Rough Trade Bristol’s Record Store Day celebrations

Posted on: 31 Mar 2023

Record Store Day 2023 is just around the corner and Rough Trade Bristol have planned an exciting in-store programme of some of the best musical artists from Bristol and beyond.

This year’s Record Store Day is set to take place on Saturday 22 April 2023.

Between 12 PM and 8 PM, the popular Nelson Street store/venue will be hosting live performances from the likes of The Tallest Man On Earth, Wych Elm and many more, all in the name of celebrating and supporting independently owned record shops.

Record Store Day began back in 2008 and has since been celebrated annually to support the culture of independent record shops. Each year, it brings music lovers, artists and record store employees for a day filled with exclusive releases and special live performances.

The full Record Store Day lineup for Rough Trade Bristol sees a headline set from Swedish folk singer-songwriter The Tallest Man On Earth at 12 PM. This will then be preceded by a busy programme of up-and-coming acts with Hollow Hands, Holy Reptile, Phoria, Dactyl Terra, Ex Agent, Getdown Services, Exit Child and Wych Elm.

Rough Trade have also collaborated with British artist James Jarvis to design a special t-shirt and tote bag that will be available at all UK stores. Jarvis caught the public eye in the early 90s thanks to his character-based artwork for Slam City Skates, an East London skateboard store.

Also getting involved are London-based brewery Signature Brew, who recently teamed up with Rough Trade to produce a bespoke beer, which will be available at the Bristol store. The In Session Hefehelles was brewed in Northeast London with help from Rough Trade team members.

Speaking about this year’s celebrations, Dylan Whatley (Rough Trade’s events assistant), has said:

“We cannot wait to welcome a great variety of artists to Rough Trade Bristol this RSD. We look to curate a local focus where we can, so we're thrilled bands like Wych Elm and Getdown Services are on the bill. It's going to be another amazing day for both locals and visitors, there's something for all.”
