Mother’s Day 2023 is just around the corner (that’s right, it’s Sunday 19 March for those who have forgotten) and, whether you’re celebrating your mum, step-mum, or mother-in-law, it’s time to start booking in your special meals and events.

We’re beginning our list with one of Bristol’s most spectacular venues, Clifton Observatory. This Mother’s Day, you will be able to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in an astonishing location.

Another one of Bristol’s most iconic attractions, Brunel’s SS Great Britain, is also serving afternoon tea. The SS Great Britain team have created a unique afternoon tea experience on board the famous boat’s First-Class Dining Saloon.

If you’re looking for a Sunday Lunch to celebrate Mother’s Day then Bristol’s got plenty of options for you to choose from. First up we’ve got one of South Bristol’s top spots if you’re looking for a roast.

 

A self-styled gastropub, The Spotted Cow boasts a famous roast with meat, vegetarian, vegan and even fish options each week. Book here.

Highbury Vaults is a pub that dates back to the 1800s, its history is reflected in the traditional wood-panelled interior, leather seating and impressive real ale selection. There is also a large walled garden to its rear and an original snug bar bottle at the front.

Located amongst the hustle and bustle of St Mark's Road is The Sugarloaf. Still serving the best cheese and onion rolls in the country, this is a friendly yet old-school local pub with a beautiful garden that regularly screens all the best live sports.

Mother’s Day can be difficult if your family are veggie. However, if this is the case, there’s a spot on Stokes Croft that should be right up your street. The Canteen is famous throughout Bristol for its culinary offerings and Sunday 19 March is sure to prove a popular day for them.

If you’re looking to really treat your mum this Mother’s Day, then upscale steakhouse Pasture may be the place for you. With a Bristol restaurant located in Redcliffe, this is fine dining in one of Bristol’s most picturesque areas.

When you think of Aerospace Bristol you think of aviation history and the famous Concorde airliner, not a prime Sunday 19 March destination. However, this year the Filton-based museum will be hosting ‘Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch Under Concorde’.

The Salthouse Bar & Restaurant | Salthouse Rd, Clevedon BS21 7TY

 

We're finishing our list with a spot that is technically just outside Bristol in Clevedon. The Salthouse is a 20-year-old community pub and restaurant that has been under the same ownership for the past 16 years. A listed building of historical interest, it has been a filming location for Broadchurch and other TV dramas. 

 

On Sunday 19, The Salthouse will be serving a classic Mother's Day lunch, however, they are also providing the opportunity to book a hands-on chocolate-making Chocolate Workshop afterwards - between 3:30 PM and 5 PM. Book here.
