Bristol’s young stars are all set to shine bright this Christmas

Various young musicians and junior performers will be spreading festive cheer this festive period with a series of Winter Concerts taking place at Bristol Beacon.

 

The programme of Bristol performances spans from Saturday 26 November until Tuesday 6 December.

 

Bristol Beacon are all set to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with Christmas-countdown of winter concerts from the likes of Bristol Youth Orchestra, Junior Ensembles, and Bristol Youth Choir.

Waving us through to the Christmas period in style on Saturday 26, Bristol Beacon’s Junior Ensembles are joining forces with Junior String Orchestra, Junior Wind Band, String Group and String Sparks to create something truly special in the shape of seasonal music and carols - guaranteed to leave you feeling merry and bright. 

 

Also on Saturday 26, 70 of Bristol’s most talented young musicians, the Bristol Youth Orchestra will be wowing audiences with sparkling renditions of classical luminaries such as Bernstein, Gershwin and Dvo?ák ‘The Magnificent Seven’, ‘An American in Paris Suit’ and ‘Symphony No.9’ are sure to prove popular numbers. 

 

Accompanied by a professional band, primary schools from all over Bristol will bring together over 500 young people to St. George’s to spread the message of hope this Christmas. Attendees can expect festive favourites aplenty from Bristol Beacon’s Schools Christmas Concert on Friday 2.

 

Those looking for a winter smattering of jazz will not be disappointed by Small Groups Winter Concert on Saturday 3. The Beacon’s Jazz Ambassadors, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Sparks and Guitar Sparks will be performing festive tunes and carols to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. 

 

Completing this advent of Christmas concerts, the Beacon are inviting music lovers to join Singing Sparks for a very special festive concert at St. James’ Priory featuring a joyful repertoire of winter songs. 

 

Spread over two days (Monday 5 and Tuesday 6), this performance will be a celebration of singers between ages 7-9 who form part of the Bristol Youth Choir as they share all the new music they have learnt.
