Critically acclaimed hip-hop trio clipping. are coming to Bristol for the first time

Posted on: 11 Nov 2022

Known for their experimental approach to hip-hop, clipping. will be playing in the surprisingly intimate setting of The Lanes in December.

clipping. will be at Bristol’s The Lanes on Monday 5 December.

Presented by DM Generation and BLG Promotions, the three-piece’s upcoming appearance appears to be somewhat of a coup with the West-Coast outfit currently engaged on a massive European tour – their first live shows since 2019.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Monday 14 November. Grab yours here.

clipping. consists of producers Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson, alongside multi-hyphenate MC, Daveed Diggs. They are known for their experimental use of abrasive noise partnered with Diggs’ masterful flow.

Hailing from Los Angeles, the group first rose to prominence with the release of their debut album Midcity in 2013 – a record that was hailed as unconventional and innovative. The trio were quickly snapped up by Sub Pop and put out their second record, CLPPNG, the following year.

Perhaps surprisingly, in 2015, Digggs took up the role of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton (see below). The production proved a worldwide success but the MC left the Broadway cast the following year.

Over the subsequent years, clipping. put out a slew of releases, some of which were collaborations with a range of artist including noise rock group Metz, while others were remixes.

In 2019, the trio released There Existed an Addiction to Blood, a horror-core inspired album featuring references to the films of John Carpenter. This was followed by another acclaimed album in the shape of ‘sequel’, Visions of Bodies Being Burned.

This year, clipping. have put out a selection of remixes and embarked on a massive tour of Europe (their first shows since 2019) that will continue until late November.

The trio will then be heading to Bristol for the first time with their show at The Lanes on Monday 5 December a sure-fire sell out. Secure yours from the event page.
