After winning the hearts of fans all over the UK for her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, Bedminster’s very own comedy star Jayde Adams is calling on young talent from around the city.

Adams and ITV are looking for fresh, new and exciting talent from Bristol aged between 17 and 22 (no experience required) to audition for her forthcoming call centre-based comedy show, Ruby Speaks.

The deadline for the application is Tuesday 22 November, applications can be made via email.

Born and raised in Bedminster, Adams is a proud Bristolian who is known for her brave and unflinching material, she is quickly becoming one of the UK’s top comics and has been described by British comedy legend Dawn French as “the third funniest woman in the world. Fact.”

Having attended Bristol Old Vic Young Company as a child, Adams’ acclaimed 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Jayde 31’ earned a nomination for the prestigious Best Newcomer award. Her Amazon Prime special ‘Serious Black Jumper’ was nominated for an Emmy and has accrued well over 150 million views.

She has also become a television regular, starring in the BAFTA-winning BBC series Alma’s Not Normal, Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens (Amazon Prime) and playing a leading role in the upcoming Take That film, Greatest Days.

This year, Jayde appeared in BBC One’s ‘My Hometown: Jayde Adams: Coming Home’. The documentary follows her difficult yet joyfully hilarious return to her home city and the family and friends that made her. She also starred in this series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, eventually being knocked out last week after proving a hit on the show.

Not too much is known about her upcoming sitcom Ruby Speaks other than it is inspired by Adams’ time spent working in a call centre and will be released on ITVX next year.

In a Twitter casting call, Jayde said: “Ere #bristol! My new TV show I’m creating with Yellow Door productions and Abi Wilson, set in a call centre in Brizzle #rubyspeaking starts filming in January.”

Applicants need no experience and must provide a full name, location and recent photo. Applications can be made via email.
