Diversity will be stopping off in the Westcountry as part of their latest UK tour, ‘Connected’.

World-famous street dance troupe Diversity are heading to Bristol for two dates at the beginning of June, set to perform at The Bristol Hippodrome on Sunday 5 & Monday 6 June.

Founder Ashley Banjo and co became national treasures when they won the popular television show Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Since then, the group have sold out nine UK and Irish tours and performed numerous live television performances.

Made up of friends from East London and Essex, Diversity formed in 2007. The group consisted of dancers aged between 12 and 25 and included four sets of brothers as well as three other members.

In 2009, Diversity auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent with Banjo describing the troupe (pre-audition) as follows: “Apart from dancing there’s university, school, college, IT solutions, telecoms engineers. We’re diverse; age, race, height, hairstyles; we’re just a diverse group of people”.

Their first TV performance saw them achieve three yeses and the young dancers continued to take the competition by storm with their striking street dance style that incorporated genres such as popping, contemporary hip-hop and breakdance.

Diversity went on to win the final in a shock result, beating bookies favourite Susan Boyle. After their extraordinary win, they took to the road; performing high profile shows on US TV shows ‘The Today Show’ and ‘Larry King Live’ as well as a gig outside 10 Downing Street.

Banjo has since choreographed several shows for the group, notably the critically acclaimed sell-out UK tour, ‘Born Ready’, and a powerful, politically charged Black Lives Matter performance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020 - see below.

The troupe will be visiting Bristol as part of a lengthy tour of their brand-new show ‘Connected’. Diversity will also be visiting venues in London, Birmingham, Stoke-On-Trent, Bournemouth, Oxford, Belfast, Swansea and Ipswich among others.

Tickets for their two shows at Bristol Hippodrome on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 June can be purchased here.
