London duo Jockstrap announce second Bristol date of the year

Posted on: 25 Apr 2022

Latest Rough Trade recruits Jockstrap have, this month, announced a UK tour and released new single ‘Concrete Over Water’ – the latest hint at a long-awaited debut full-length album.

Made up of Georgia Ellery (of Black Country, New Road) and Taylor Skye, the talented electronic two-piece have announced a date at The Fleece in addition to their already announced appearance at Dot To Dot Festival.

With Dot To Dot taking place on Saturday 28 May, Jockstrap will be returning to the South West on Wednesday 5 October as part of their upcoming UK-wide tour.

Tickets for Jockstrap's date at The Fleece can be found HERE and tickets for Dot To Dot 2022 can be purchased from the festival website.

Meeting while students at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the late 2010s, electronic producer Skye and vocalist/violinist/songwriter Ellery quickly formed a formidable music partnership - forming Jockstrap in 2018.

The result of the project is pure modern pop alchemy, blending mainstream pop with EDM; post-dubstep; classical composition; early jazz and 1960s folk. The band’s first multi-track release Love Is the Key to the City came out in 2018, garnering acclaim from both fans and critics.

The EP led Jockstrap to contribute to cult artist Dean Blunt’s Soul on Fire EP alongside the likes of A$AP Rocky. With the buzz around the duo growing, they signed for legendary electronic label Warp for their second release, Wicked City.

These releases, along with latest singles ‘50/50’ and ‘Concrete Over Water’, have recently caught the attention of various culturing heavyweights in the shape of fashion titans Chanel and Stella McCartney, BBC 6 Music and influential artists such as Anna Meredith and Iggy Pop.

Despite both members being aged only 24, Jockstrap have established a discography that inventively incorporates dancefloor techno; off-kilter electro-pop; trip-hop and introspective songwriting.

Discussing the band’s latest single (the video of which can be found below), Skye has said: “I can’t quite remember producing ‘Concrete Over Water’. I was living in my auntie’s attic at the time and it was extremely hot. Georgia sent me the demo fully written, then I sent her the song fully produced. That was it.”

As well as their appearance in Bristol, Jockstrap will visit venues in Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Norwich, Brighton, London and Cardiff. Head to the band’s website to find out more.

Tickets to Jockstrap’s show at The Fleece on Wednesday 5 October can be found HERE while tickets for Dot To Dot 2022 are available on the festival website.
