Outer Town Festival announces first wave of artists

Posted on: 13 Dec 2021

The new festival celebrating Bristol’s DIY and underground scene will take place on 10 April 2022 across six venues on Old Market Street and West Street.

The stellar first wave of artists playing at the one-day festival was announced last Wednesday and was greeted with much interest.

Early bird tickets have already sold out; however, general sale tickets can be purchased from the event web page.

Outer Town is Bristol’s latest multi-venue festival and will present 30 bands spread across six of Bristol’s most renowned and characteristic venues – Exchange, Ill Repute, Punchbowl, Glitch, and the Old Market Assembly.

With plenty of artists still to be announced (including the Old Market Assembly headliner), the festival already looks jam-packed with some of the best alternative music talent from Bristol and further afield.

Dancehall/punk rap local legend, Grove (pictured below) will be bringing their unique, genre-defying sound to the festival. They will be joined by jazz influenced garage rockers Opus Kink and Maltese-English post-punkers ?ENN.

Local group Saloon Dion will be in tow, armed with their popy post-punk tunes. London-based Beige Banquet will also be joining the party, serenading revellers with DEVO-esque drum machines and distorted spoken word.

Lyrical post-punk group Deadletter will be joined by Bristolian trip-hop band OSLO TWINS. Bristol shoegaze favourites Damefrisør are sure to also draw a crowd along with art-rock four-piece Youth Sector.

Heavy punk band DEAFDEAFDEAF, chaotic two-piece Peacelily. Bristol improv band Ex-Agent, indie-rock group Lacuna Common, Welsh psych band The Family Battenberg, math rock quartet HAAL, garage rock’s The New America and experimental trio Kyoto-Kyoto complete the first wave of acts.

Outer Town Festival is partnering with Off The Record, a mental health social music by and for young people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. OTR provides all kinds of information and support around wellbeing. To find out more head to their website.
