Bristol band Hell-Ios to perform at Thekla in competition final

Posted on: 02 Dec 2021

The alternative-rock duo have reached the final four in a competition that began with over fifty local bands.

Bristol band Hell-Ios will compete in the final of The Underdog: Ultimate Challenge on Sunday 9 January 2022, at esteemed venue Thekla.

The BS1 staple will play host to the grand final of the largest battle of the bands style event in the southwest, with Hell-Ios, Bearpit, Blacklist, and Land Captain all competing for top honours.

Tickets for the event can be found here.

Established in 2015, The Underground, hosted by Synthtica Events and We Need Bands, has grown in stature on the Bristol scene over the years, providing budding homegrown talent with opportunities to hone their craft and make a name for themselves.

2022's final will be the first battle of the bands style event The Underground has hosted since 2017 and will debut their all-new format: Ultimate Challenge.

Differing from the usual one-night-only format, all four finalists will embark upon a 12-week programme, offering a £1000 prize and the chance to enhance all areas of their act, from performance to marketing and promotion.

Described by Adam Crowther of BBC Radio Bristol as "unapologetically loud", Hell-Ios fuse a broad range of shared influences to create something unique - a propulsive yet accessible brand of alt-rock.

Hell-Ios banded in 2019 whilst its two members were studying at BIMM, and are the only duo in the final - a testament to their talent.

Audience members will have a say in who walks away with the prize alongside a panel of judges.

Looking to find something new? The Underground: Ultimate Challenge might be just what you're after. Find tickets here.
