Opened initially in July 2020, Breaking Bread was a hit with Bristolians upon its launch, providing a unique dining experience for locals as well as a range of employment opportunities for the struggling hospitality industry.

Thousands visited the pop-up tipi village during its first stint, with a programme made up of guest kitchen takeovers, live music, live comedy, DJ residencies from local promoters and more.

Returning this year, the Breaking Bread team have unveiled a series of new additions to the complex, including refurbished events space The Pergola and brand-new restaurant concept Homegrown.

More recently, continuing a strong run of form that has seen the likes of Worm Disco Club, Crazy P and renowned local promoters Peachin' host their own evening takeovers, the Breaking Bread team have put together yet another stellar musical lineup for July.

Following on from last night's opener hosted by revered Stokes Croft-based station 1020 Radio, fast-rising DJ and producer Manami will be serenading The Downs with her far-reaching home listening selections tonight (Friday 2 July).

DJ takeovers going forwards include Pressure Dome boss Yushh alongside Tramma (Friday 9), Bristol legends Ray Mighty & Andy Scholes (Sunday 18) and Motion regulars Ellis Roberts & Sonic (Friday 23).

Some of Bristol's best-loved promoters are involved too, from hip-hop connoisseurs Sip the Juice (Saturday 3) to revered party starters French Kiss (Thursday 15), The Diving Club (Sunday 25) and the inimitable Mix Nights crew (Friday 30).

Elsewhere, live performances from jazz frontrunners The Neutron Star (Thursday 8), Contrafactory (Thursday 22) and Ishmael Ensemble mastermind Pete Cunningham (Saturday 31) will provide the perfect soundtrack to a picturesque evening in BS8.

Gloucester Road bar The Gallimaufry's Presents series is also set to continue, with Snazzback (Wednesday 7) Madly (Wednesday 14), Waldo's Gift (Wednesday 21) and Simiah (Wednesday 28) set to feature in another on-the-pulse celebration of Bristol music.

All of the above and more will be accompanying the fantastic food, drink and atmosphere on offer at Breaking Bread's Pipe & Lovers and Pergola spaces.
