Popular hospitality pop-up Breaking Bread are opening a new food market in their tipi complex this weekend, inviting a selection of local traders to set up shop from 10:00 - 16:00 on Sunday 20 June.

Some of Bristol's favourite independent food vendors and culinary craftspeople will be showcasing their produce and hosting exclusive demonstrations for visitors, promoting and celebrating the city's world-renowned food scene.

Stalls confirmed so far include Hugos Greengrocer Deli, Winkle Picker, Bath Soft Cheese, The Bread Drink Lab, Psychopomp & Circumstance, Winnie's Bakery, Popti & Beast, The Incredible Brewing Company and The Bristol Cheesemonger.

Opened initially in July 2020, Breaking Bread was a hit with Bristolians upon its launch, providing a unique dining experience for locals as well as a range of employment opportunities for the struggling hospitality industry.

Thousands visited the pop-up tipi village during its first stint, with a programme made up of guest kitchen takeovers, live music, live comedy, DJ residencies from local promoters and more.

Returning this year, the Breaking Bread team have unveiled a series of new additions to the complex, including refurbished events space The Pergola and brand-new restaurant concept Homegrown.

Now, in addition to their dining, drinking and entertainment offering, Breaking Bread are launching an in-house food market on The Downs, promising to represent as many of the Bristol area's independent food producers as possible.

Showcasing everything from the fresh produce of local cheesemongers and butchers to drinks and ingredients from Bristol-based breweries and distilleries, the market will provide a varied insight into the city's forward-thinking foodie talent.

Following this weekend's opening, the market will be open from 10:00 to 16:00 every Sunday. For more information on Breaking Bread, to see what else is coming up or to book a table for drinks, a meal or a live event, head to their website.
