Smoke & Mirrors to continue hosting socially-distanced shows until 19 July

Posted on: 15 Jun 2021

The renowned BS1 bar is showing live magic, live comedy and more in the coming weeks.

Central Bristol bar and venue Smoke & Mirrors have announced plans to press on with their socially-distanced summer programming, following Monday's government announcement delaying the nationwide removal of all COVID restrictions to 19 July.

Initially earmarked for 21 June, the government's 'freedom day' was set to ring in the long-awaited reopening of nightlife venues across the UK, but has been pushed back due a rise in cases of the new Delta variant of the virus.

Having only partially reopened recently following months of lockdown and tiered restrictions, Smoke & Mirrors have confirmed they'll be sticking to socially-distanced for the time being, with an array of top-notch events on the way in June & July.

Releasing a statement today (Tuesday 15 June), Smoke & Mirrors said: "Having finally heard the disappointing news that we are to continue with restrictions in place, we are now looking at the next month and all the new events we have added to our entertainment calender.

"For those of you who have already purchased tickets for any of our events, don't panic! We are continuing with our Comedy & Magic Shows, New Material Nights and Close-Up Bar Magic in a safe and socially distanced way with reduced capacity in the Smoke & Mirrors Theatre.

"We will continue to limit numbers entering the venue to ensure there is enough space for all guests to be seated while waiting to watch a show and we thank all of our guests over the past month for understanding and co-operating while we continue to offer our events."

Until restrictions are lifted, Smoke & Mirrors will be hosting weekly Brand-New Stand-Up Comedy nights every Wednesday and Sunday, as well as Edinburgh Preview Shows, Family Comedy & Magic Shows and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
