Bristol Hippodrome closure extended into May

Bristol Hippodrome closure extended into May

Posted on: 25 Feb 2021

Venue operators ATG Tickets have provided an update following Monday's government announcement.

The Bristol Hippodrome is set to remain closed until Sunday 16 May at the earliest, the venue team has confirmed.

The theatre has been unable to host any shows since its initial closure back in March 2020, with plans for a socially-distanced January pantomime shelved due to the introduction of a third UK lockdown after Christmas.

A statement released yesterday (Wednesday 24 February) assured ticket holders that no action needs to be taken at present, and that details regarding rescheduled shows and refunds are forthcoming.

Announcing the extension of the venue's closure, ATG said:

"Following the good news from the Prime Minister's COVID roadmap announcement on Monday, outlining the path to theatres reopening later this year, we very much look forward to welcoming audiences back to our venues soon.

"In the meantime, we have suspended performances at our UK venues until Sunday 16 May 2021 in line with step 2.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused but hope that you will understand given the exceptional circumstances."

The venue team are currently in the process of contacting customers who had seats booked for performances up to 3 April, while those with later bookings will be contacted from the week commencing 15 March.

If you don't require a refund, bookings for postponed shows will automatically be moved to rescheduled dates once confirmed.

With the venue's closure extended several times over the past 12 months, the team have repeatedly managed to reschedule some of its biggest plays, musicals and standup shows, including Les Miserables, Hairspray and Russell Howard live.
