Bristol five-piece Goan Dogs to release debut album, Call Your Mum, in February

Posted on: 29 Jan 2021

The band's first-ever full-length project explores a range of influences following their extended hiatus.

Bristol-based indie-pop outfit Goan Dogs are just days away from the release of their debut album, with Call Your Mum set for a physical and digital release on Friday 5 February.

Having made their return in 2020 following an extended hiatus from writing and performing together, the band's latest project has garnered glowing reviews from across the music press, including Radio 1's Huw Stephens and The Line of Best Fit.

The 12-track record, which will be available on vinyl and across all digital platforms, is Goan Dogs' first major release in over two years, having most recently worked on their Roll the Dice EP in 2018.

Combining dreamy instrumentation with heartfelt vocals and an experimental journey into electronica, Call Your Mum brings the very best out of Goan Dogs to form the perfect debut full-length.

From the mix-and-match nature of their latest single 'Drinking on a School Night' to the tight harmonies on opening track 'Anxiety', the album is a representation of a broad stock of influences and the band's fresh outlook upon returning to the studio.

Discussing the inspiration for the album with Mystic Sons, the band said: “It’s top advice for anyone in the privileged position of having a mum they can talk to. The album is filled with lost people, unfulfilled people, confused people, heartsick people and anxious people.”

Call Your Mum will be available on vinyl and across streaming services from Friday 5 February. Find out more about Goan Dogs and follow news and updates on Twitter.
