Bristol Hippodrome's socially-distanced panto postponed to February 2021

Posted on: 02 Dec 2020

Bristol's Tier 3 restrictions have forced the theatre to reschedule.

The Bristol Hippodrome's production of Robin Hood has officially been postponed, with indoor entertainment venues required to remain closed for the coming weeks as Bristol remains under Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions.

The eagerly-awaited run - hosted by the Hippodrome as part of a nationwide socially-distanced theatrical series - was due to open on Friday 18 December, with an allocation of free tickets available for NHS workers and their families.

Having officially confirmed the news yesterday (Wednesday 2 December), Hippodrome operators ATG and their partners are expected to provide new dates and times for rescheduled performances in the coming days.

Announced back in October as part of an innovative nationwide project, a socially-distanced production of Robin Hood was set to become the Hippodrome's first scheduled show in over eight months, following the theatre's extended closure as a result of the pandemic.

The show promised an unforgettable celebration of traditional pantomime, brightening up the festive season and safely welcoming audiences back to the much-loved venue.

Releasing a statement online, ATG said: "With the announcement that Bristol is moving to Tier 3 restrictions that require the closure of indoor entertainment venues, we’ve taken the decision with our partners at Qdos Entertainment to postpone our socially-distanced production of Robin Hood to February.

"We can’t wait to welcome this spectacular production to our venue and sprinkle 2021 with some festive magic!"

News regarding rearranged dates and times, as well as information for ticket holders, is expected in the coming days - keep up to date here.
