The Exchange to launch new live-streamed gig series

Posted on: 01 Dec 2020

Enjoy a series of virtual gigs hosted by one of Bristol's best-loved venues.

The Exchange have announced plans for a new virtual gig series for December, January and February, inviting a selection of renowned emerging acts to perform live at the venue as part of a string of live broadcasts.

Kicking off with local band Grandma's House Wednesday 16 December, 'Fertile Ground' will provide fans across Bristol and beyond with a much-needed hit of live music, making use of innovative 360-degree camera technology and the venue's state-of-the-art soundsystem.

Streams are set to be free to watch, but donations will be welcome, with 100% of proceeds to be committed to the venue's ongoing support of new talent and emerging acts.

After more than eight months of closure due to the coronavirus crisis, stay tuned and get behind The Exchange as the team put together some of their most eagerly-anticipated gigs to date.

Located in the heart of Old Market and opened in 2012, The Exchange is one of Bristol's most renowned live venues.

Having hosted an array of now-internationally-recognised acts over the years, including Haim, Four Tet and The 1975 among others, the venue is rightly regarded among the city's best.

Home in normal circumstances to an ambitious seven-days-a-week live schedule, The Exchange is now a proudly community-owned business, supporting a wide range of local music projects and creative ventures.

In response to the initial coronavirus outbreak back in March, The Exchange team were forced to launch an emergency crowdfunding campaign in order to safeguard for the future, eventually raising more than £5,000.

After the new Fertile Ground series' opening gig on Wednesday 16 December, The Exchange will be broadcasting sets from Oh The Guilt, Toddles and the Hectic Pity, Twisted Ankle, Clt Drp, Sugar Horse and Rosehip Teahouse before a closing performance from Hamburger in February 2021.
