1020 Radio to release charity compilation in support of Creative Youth Network

Proceeds from the upcoming release will be donated to the Creative Youth Network.

Independent Bristol-based station 1020 Radio have announced their second charity release this year, with an 18-track compilation on the way in celebration of their fifth birthday.

Due for release on Friday 6 November, the project has been put together entirely by 1020 residents, with all proceeds to be donated to the Creative Youth Network.

The station's latest release comes following a successful debut in April that raised vital funds for Above & Beyond, a local charity dedicated to raising funds to help NHS staff in Bristol city centre hospitals.

Across 18 tracks split into two parts, 1020's second compilation explores the role of dance music within the ever-present theme of night and day.

The daytime section kicks off with harmonious two-step led by ethereal percussion tools, evoking heady landscapes and marrying high-definition sonics with the uplifting musical heritage of the Caribbean.

Later, sub-aquatic techno and cerebral bass music bring the night to life, with abstract sound designs conjuring images of dark, cavernous spaces and low-lit basements.

Through this compilation produced and arranged by a devoted studio community, 1020 Radio have sewn the cultural threads of its contributors into a vast sonic patchwork of trademark Bristol hybridity.

Proceeds will go directly towards the Creative Youth Network's ongoing efforts to help young people across the South West unlock their potential, through employment, creative workshops, support services and more.

1020's second compilation will be available for purchase on the station's Bandcamp page from Friday 6 November.
