Local ethical clothing business Frankly is set to open its first physical shop on Bristol's Wapping Wharf in the coming weeks, becoming the latest independent to open in the CARGO 2 complex.

Selling a range of products including clothing, accessories and handmade gifts, each product at Frankly has a story, and brands are carefully chosen and stocked according to their commitment to making positive change.

The store will operate under a forward-thinking new retail model that encourages fairer cuts of profits, focuses on product quality and aims to be as sustainable as possible for people and the planet.

Driven by a passion for retail and a distrust of traditional consumerist models that encourage people to "buy more of what they don't need", Frankly owner Helen Symonds is actively pursuing a new, more responsible way to do business.

Sales from t-shirts, for example, will support Bristol-based charity Lovewell's work to support vulnerable women in the area. For every bar of Kushoo soap sold, Frankly will donate another to a local charity or foodbank.

When you buy a piece of recycled stationery from the VENT for Change range, Frankly will use a portion of the profits to support worldwide education programmes.

Speaking on the imminent opening of her new store, Helen said: "We want to encourage people to buy less but buy better.

"Everything we sell gives back in some way, from products produced by people in vulnerable groups supported through training, to brands giving a percentage of their sales to charity.

"I wanted to find a fairer and kinder retail model, so rather than buying multiple, mass-produced gifts, you can buy a one-of-a-kind product that is not only a beautiful item, but also has made a difference.

"You get to give back; you get to feel good."

Frankly will open in Unit 5 of CARGO 2, previously home to Mabboo, which is now based solely in The Galleries shopping centre.
