Autumn Update: Follow new releases from Bristol artists with our dedicated Spotify playlist

Posted on: 19 Oct 2020

Find new(ish) music from IDLES, Waldo's Gift, Katy J Pearson and more in our Bristol Radio Autumn Update.

With the coronavirus pandemic wearing on and restrictions on the rise again, it looks as though we'll be waiting a while before music venues across Bristol and beyond are able to safely open their doors again.

After an almost seven-month live music drought we're all missing our favourite venues, and although some (namely Lakota, Trinity Centre and Strange Brew) have managed to host events, many remain closed.

For most of us, the new normal means discovering and listening to music within the confines of our own homes, and with that in mind we've been posting occasional updates on Bristol Radio, our Spotify playlist dedicated to the brilliant Bristol music scene, throughout 2020.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances (someone may or may not have lost our Spotify password) we've neglected the playlist recently, but we're back this week with an Autumn update to freshen up your libraries with new(ish) releases from some of the city's top artists.

Among the latest additions are acclaimed Bristol jazz acts Waldo's Gift and Ishmael Ensemble, as well as September releases from Katy J Pearson, Tungz and The Desert.

Obviously we couldn't overlook IDLES' Number One album Ultra Mono, so the snarling 'Anxiety' adds to a selection of the band's biggest tracks to feature on Bristol Radio.

Elsewhere on the playlist, expect infectious grooves from Elder Island, Cousin Kula and Farebrother, soulful acoustics courtesy of Maya Law, Robi Mitch and Lady Nade, and no-nonsense tracks from Heavy Lungs, Leeches and Football FC.

Electronic music fans can also find innovative underground sounds from Bristol's best-loved DJs and producers, including Shanti Celeste, Batu and Peverelist.

If you're on the hunt for some new music, tune in to Bristol Radio and get to know some of the Westcountry's most exciting contemporary artists.

Our Spotify playlist is updated regularly. If you or someone you know has got new music on the way, get in touch - we want to hear it!
