Bristol Pride 2020 begins

Posted on: 01 Sep 2020

A series of online fringe events will culminate with a virtual Pride Day on Saturday 12 September.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Bristol Pride is moving online for 2020. The celebration begins today (Tuesday 1 September).

Until Friday 11 September, a series of virtual fringe events will be streamed via Bristol Pride’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.

Then, on Saturday 12 September, the celebration will culminate with a Virtual Pride Day and Parade, which will see more than 40 acts perform.

Over the next twelve days, enjoy events such as a virtual dog show and a star-studded comedy night, as the festival unites the LGBTQ+ community and stands up to hatred.

Here’s a few highlights from the free-to-access event.

Saturday 12 September: Virtual Pride Day and Parade

The online programme will culminate with a Virtual Pride Day on Saturday 12 September, boasting a Virtual Parade in the morning, an afternoon of performances and a night of DJ sets.

Packed with the sorts of acts you’d expect to see during a physical Pride Day at The Downs, the Virtual Pride Day is set to include more than 40 performances plus a few, special shout outs.

Great British Bake Off stars will join local participant Briony Williams for a rainbow bake tutorial, and over on the virtual Cabaret Stage, expect some Ru Paul Drag Race stars.

Virtual Pride Day will also see some special archive footage from previous years, like Mel C's 2019 performance with Sink The Pink.

Later on, join the After Party: Horse Meat Disco, Grrrl Crush and Bitch, Please! are among the names performing DJ sets via Twitch
