Bristol Hippodrome suspends all performances until mid October

Posted on: 19 Aug 2020

The extended suspension will impact performances such as Dreamgirls.

The Bristol Hippodrome has confirmed the suspension of all performances until Sunday 18 October, due to ongoing social distancing restrictions.

In a statement released on social media, a spokesperson said the theatre hopes to reschedule as many of the shows affected by the suspension as possible.

In the statement, the Hippodrome outlined ticket procedures and expressed thanks to ticket holders for their patience.

“Thank you to everyone for their ongoing support of our wonderful venue,” the statement begins.

“We are working hard with Ambassador Theatre Group, our fellow venues, partners in government, industry and countless others on re-opening our theatre for performances.

“As these efforts continue, we can confirm that all performances at the Ambassador Theatre Group venues have been suspended until Sunday 18 October.

“If you have a booking affected by this, you do not need to do anything and over the coming weeks we will contact you directly.”

Some performances impacted by the suspension of performances at the Bristol Hippodrome since April have been successfully rescheduled, such as The Addams Family and Waitress.

Those with tickets for performances which have been rescheduled don’t need to do anything: tickets will be automatically transferred to new dates, and ticket holders will be contacted.

For customers where shows have not been rescheduled, the theatre will issue a full credit voucher, including all fees.

The vouchers are valid until 31 December 2021 and can be used to book any future performances on sale at that time.

Refunds are also available for all cancelled shows.

On social media, the Bristol Hippodrome also responded to those with questions about the pantomime season.

The theatre confirmed it is consulting on the viability for the pantomime in 2020, and that the team expect to have completed discussions by early September.

“Our plans are that shows can go ahead, but we need to agree with producers on how this can happen,” a spokesperson said.

“We will share any announcement on our official channels, so please stay tuned.”
