Bristol Old Vic announces new programme of live performances
Posted on: 18 Aug 2020The events will take place inside the theatre’s café bar.
On Thursday (13 August), Bristol Old Vic reopened its café bar foyer to the public.
Now live events are returning to the theatre with the help of some brilliant Bristolian artists.
In the coming days, expect three live events inside the theatre's café bar, including a performance from the City Poet and a game of Who Said That?.
The short programme kicks off on Thursday (10 August) with a performance from City Poet Vanessa Kisuule.
Kisuule’s recent poem about the toppling of Edward Colston’s statue, titled Hollow, went viral on Twitter, and was enjoyed by people across the world.
Next up, on Friday 21 August, popular local comedian Mark Olver is hosting a game of Who Said That?
He’ll be joined (remotely) by four special guests: comedians Jayde Adams, Luke Kemper, Lou Conran and Robin Morgan.
In each round, one of the players asks a question which the other three must answer. Players will send their answers to Mark via text, and he’ll read them out.
The questioner then has to try and work out whose answer is whose with a point on offer for every one they match correctly. Expect an evening of Qs, As and ‘technical difficulties.’
I am incredibly excited, astoundingly nervous, and definitely a bit emotional to be one of the first shows back in the Old Vic. A panel show. Live. Using technology. And me. What could go wrong?!! https://t.co/88JNBnswgn

Rounding up the programme on Saturday 22 August are performers Patrycja Kujawska and James Gow.
The pair will serenade the audience with a repertoire of light miniatures for violin and cello, developed over the past months together in their gardens.
Expect to hear Bach, Mozart, Handel and other classics brought to life from Bristol Old Vic's atmospheric new indoor stage.
Each event will last 60 minutes. Tickets are sold on a table-by-table basis, with a table for two starting at £10.
