Bristol Hippodrome suspends all performances until late September

The theatre said it has successfully rescheduled several shows including Mamma Mia! And 9 to 5: The Musical. 

 

The Bristol Hippodrome has announced it will extend the suspension of all performances until Saturday 20 September, due to COVID-19.

 

In a statement released on social media, the Hippodrome team explained that they look forward to reopening the venue “as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so.”

 

The venue team also said they were “encouraged” to see the government’s intervention to protect UK culture after an emergency support package for the sector was announced last week.

The suspension of performances at the Bristol Hippodrome will impact shows such as Heathers the Musical and Peppa Pig’s Best Day Ever.

 

But venue said it has successfully rescheduled several shows impacted by the suspension, including Heathers the Musical, Mamma Mia! and Six the Musical. 

 

Those with tickets for rescheduled shows don’t need to do anything: their tickets will be automatically transferred to the new dates and ticket holders will be contacted.

 

For shows that have not been rescheduled, the venue has said it will issue a full credit voucher including all fees that is valid for use on all future shows until 31 December 2021. Find out more here.

 

Ending the statement, the Bristol Hippodrome thanked theatre fans for their ongoing support: 

 

“Thank you for all your patience and understanding as we work towards our glorious return to theatre! #TheShowWillGoOn.”

 

During the Bristol Hippodrome’s closure, some new shows have been announced, including Chicago and Anton & Erin: Showtime.
