More independent retailers inside The Arcade to reopen

Posted on: 10 Jul 2020

Several retailers inside The Arcade will reopen on Monday 13 July, following a further easing of lockdown measures.

Located in Bristol’s shopping district, you’ll find The Arcade - a Grade II listed shopping quarter. It’s a hub for independent businesses; from sustainable fashion brands to a specialist hair salon for kids.

From Monday 13 July, following a further easing of lockdown measures, several retailers inside the quarter will reopen for business.

Retailers include beauty salon Beauty Zone and Inked Up – a local tattoo and piercing studio.

Beauty Zone will reopen with limited services and will perform no treatments involving the face. Those visiting the salon will be asked to wear a mask.

Inked Up is also reopening with slightly reduced services, and has announced details of in-salon social distancing measures on the Inked Up Facebook page

In the announcement, the studio has said it will be operating on an appointment-only basis, and those entering the salon must wear a mask.

The Arcade began welcoming back shoppers in June. To celebrate its reopening, a brand-new ‘Thank You NHS and Key Workers’ mural has been displayed.

The historic quarter also introduced a new one-way system to implement social distancing.

The reopening of Beauty Zone and Inked Up follows that of other Arcade businesses, including specialist hair salon EK Hair, award-winning card shop Card Shack and tailoring service Needle & Thread.

Sustainable brand Illustrate welcomed back visitors for the first time since March yesterday, on Thursday 9 July. It's now open from Thursday to Saturday, 10:00 to 17:00.

Food businesses in The Arcade have also reopened, including Italian café Taste of Napoli and custom milkshake bar Shakeaway.

Units yet to reopen include The Arcade’s contemporary art gallery, Gallery du 808, which has announced it’ll reopen on Monday 20 July. Sobey's Vintage Clothing has not yet announced when its Arcade store will reopen.
